The Heart of England Co-operative Society has completed a £600,000 renovation of its Food store in Attleborough, Nuneaton.

A new and improved Food To Go offering, with hot food, hot dogs and Slush now complements the new Costa and meal deal offering at The Co-operative in Kem Street.

There is also an expanded fresh food offering, enhanced bakery offering, complete with new shelving and lighting, and new ranges including American confectionary, children’s zone and vegan offering are among the improvements made in-store.

The project also includes a new off licence area with brick-effect features, new refrigeration, feature shelving, display cubes and new signage.

The store itself has undergone external renovations with a new shop front and new graphics. There is a digital media screen in the lobby area, improved lighting, flooring and modernisation of internal graphics, and signage throughout the store, as well as improvements to service areas to further modernise the store.

The new-look facility was unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday.

Clive Miles, President of the Society, unveiled the new-look store alongside Ali Kurji, Chief Executive.

To date shoppers at the Attleborough store have donated 1872 kgs, or more than 1.87 tonnes of food to the Foodbank. To celebrate the unveiling the Society presented the Foodbank with a further £500 from its Helping Hearts Awards Scheme.

Steve Browne, General Manager of the Society’s Food Division, said: “Our new-look Attleborough store looks fantastic since the improvements were made and already we have had excellent feedback from our customers.

“As a community retailer we owe our success to the loyalty of our members and customers and of course we are committed to repaying that loyalty by investing our profits back into our stores. This enables our customers – as well as our members and our staff – to share in our success.

“The investment in our Attleborough store is just part of a continuous programme of investments undertaken by our Society to ensure that every one of our members and customers across our trading area enjoys a shopping experience of the highest quality every time they enter our stores.”
